On the 24th of February 2025, Honourable Dr. Damas D. Ndumbaro, Minister of Constitutional and Legal Affairs of the United Republic of Tanzania, addressed the 58th Session of the Human Rights Council, emphasizing the government's commitment to human rights under President Samia Suluhu Hassan's leadership.
Dr. Ndumbaro highlighted Tanzania's prioritization of human rights, with the government playing a key role in promoting and protecting these right. He referred to the constitutional guarantees and and the governance strategy of reconciliation, resilience, reform, and rebuilding underpin the country's human rights approach. He further added that government is addressing human rights and conservation challenges in the Ngorongoro Conservation area through engagement with local leaders. Tanzania has made significant progress in civil and political rights, media pluralism, rights of vulnerable groups, socio-economic rights, and environmental initiatives.
