The Mission’s responsibilities with respect to diaspora matters compliment the work of the Embassy of the United Republic of Tanzania in Berlin, which is responsible for diaspora matters within countries to which it is accredited, including Switzerland.
Given the specific mandate of the Mission, our diaspora engagement is more focused on multilateral discussions on diaspora and development, which have their origins in the Global Forum on Migration and Development (GFMD) in 2007. Centre to the general objectives of the multilateral discussions on diaspora is ensuing that the diaspora communities become secure in their new lives abroad, the situation that will also enable them to turn back to their countries of origin and contribute to their development efforts.
The Mission officials may participate in Tanzanian diaspora activities in Switzerland; or extend invitation to Tanzanian diaspora groups in Switzerland for certain events organised by the Mission, with the view of promoting Tanzanian culture and image within the scope of multilateral diplomacy. In addition, the Mission’s consular services are accessible to all Tanzanian diaspora within our proximity.
